ALBUMNOTITIES
In ieder geval altijd positief! Op deze pagina kan je er een aantal lezen, deze wel in het Engels dat komt toch het best over.

SHAKIN STEVENS and the SUNSETS
Though its impending demise was predicted within months of its dynamic emergence in the early 'fifties, rock 'n' roll has certainly proved to have staying power.
The same can well be said of Shakin' Stevens who for more than a decade has eschewed the very strong temptations to depart from the purist line by singing pop, beat music or contemporary rock and has finally been rewarded for his

dedication to rock 'n' roll with a number one thanks to "This Ole House".
All those years of sticking to his guns have seen Shaky survive where other British purveyors of rock 'n' roll have fallen by the wayside, which says a lot for his determination, especially since many of the diehard rockers have taken a lot of convincing that authentic rock 'n' roll can emenate from anywhere except the USA ... "VOLHARDEND WAS HIJ ZEKER! EN DAT HEEFT EEN HOOP MOOIE PLATEN OPGELEVERD - MET DE SUNSETS EN SOLO - WAARVAN DIT ER ZEKER ÉÉN IS, DE REST V/D TEKST TE LEZEN OP DE ACHTERKANT V/H ALBUM .."

50 YEARS AGO, SAM PHILLIPS' LEGENDARY SUN RECORDS IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE WAS THE HOME OF ELVIS PRESLEY, JOHNNY CASH, ROY ORBISON, CARL PERKINS AND JERRY LEE LEWIS, THE FOUNDING FATHERS OF ROCK AND ROLL - FOR LONG, JERRY LEE LEWIS WAS "THE LAST MAN STANDING"
R.I.P. JERRY LEE -THE KILLER- LEWIS
First, take one painfully acquired knowledge and sensitized awareness of cruelty, injustice, and frustration.
Add a sense of humor-slightly bitter- and mix carefully with a consuming need to experience and express love. Then, when vigorously stirred with a completely original and articulate talent, you're going to get one hell of an explosion. Her name is NINA SIMONE. Only the strongest and most extravagant adjectives apply. Certainly there is no possibility not the slightest of being indifferent to this astonising

creature. Is she a jazz singer? A folk singer? A pop singer? An avenging angel? A witch? She is all of these and she is none of these, and, utilizing a double meaning, she is "something else" besides. She fits no category and obeys almost none of the rules. Every Nina Simone performance is completely different from any other that she has ever given. Every audience is different and every day is different, and Nina tonight is the sum of Nina last night plus twenty-four hours of living ...
"GE-WEL-DIG TOCH, MEER ACHTEROP DE HOES"!!

I don't sound like nobody!" was Bo Diddley's proud boast when he burst onto the scene with his irresistible, driving beat in the mid-1950s. Yet before long there were dozens trying to imitate his relentless rhythm which clattered and blew like a runaway freight train and which he called his "tradesman's knock". The 'Diddley beat' became a key component in the transition from blues and R&B to rock'n'roll and was copied by a generation of British groups including the Rolling Stones, the
Animals, the Yardbirds and the Pretty Things, who named themselves after one of his songs. His oeuvre was soon also being plundered by American rock bands such as the Doors and Quicksilver Messenger Service and alongside Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry, none of the first generation of American rock'n'rollers had a greater impact on the subsequent course of popular music than Diddley. Songs such as 'Diddy Wah Diddy', 'Who Do You Love?', 'Road Runner', 'Pretty Thing' and 'Say Man' remain part of rock music's DNA to this day. don't sound like nobody!" was Bo Diddley's proud boast when he burst onto the scene with his irresistible, driving beat in the mid-1950s.
